Aero Compliance was founded by Colin Hockings in February 2013 as a small efficient business to service a range of compliance needs of aircraft maintenance organisations. It has experience with clients ranging in size from just one to many hundreds of employees, both within and outside Australia.

In addition, Aero Compliance teams with Aeronautical Inspection Services (AIS: contact Jason Maitland via jason@aisndt.com.au) to facilitate aircraft NDT inspections, procedure development and approval. AIS has full capability and CASA authority to perform eddy current, radiographic, penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic and thermal imaging inspections.
Originally an aircraft maintenance engineer (A&P) with Qantas, Colin became a fully qualified NDT technician in 1975 and subsequently worked in aviation in Australia and Asia. He supervised the Qantas NDT department in Sydney for some years, and was a part time TAFE instructor and guest lecturer at the University of NSW. He was subsequently an Engineering Quality Manager responsible for Specialist Maintenance until early 2013. His career in aviation extended beyond Qantas and has always been quality and education focussed, being an active member of industry associations and advisory groups.
He concluded his time with Qantas Engineering as the Part 145 project manager responsible for the preparation of the organisation’s Exposition and procedures, for its successful transition under the Part 145 regulation as an Approved Maintenance Organisation. His regulatory experience also includes EASA and FAA. He founded Aero Compliance to continue his career, and share his knowledge with the aviation maintenance community.
As well as engineering, NDT and auditing qualifications, Colin holds a Masters of Safety Science from UNSW, and has authored and presented a variety of technical and opinion papers.
