The CASR Part 145 Manual of Standards which underpins the regulation, is clear that persons performing, auditing, managing and planning aircraft maintenance need to be aware of the limitations of human performance, and how these limitations may contribute to maintenance errors.
Human Factors education addresses this issue. HF training should meet both the requirements of the Part 145 Manual of Standards, but also specifically apply to the employee’s operational environment. A one size HF training package does not necessarily fit all.
HF education provided by Aero Compliance is by a Master’s of Safety Science degree qualified person and Baines Simmons trained. It is based on the Part 145 AMC core material and prepared in conjunction with the maintenance organisation, with an emphasis on aspects of particular relevance to the participants.
Safety Management Systems (SMS) education is offered by Aero Compliance to organisations which want their employees to understand their SMS and make it work. Safety has evolved from a technical study to include the human element and now to the organizational level. The SMS draws these together into a coherent view of how an organistion can best identify and manage their safety risks.
Aero Compliance uses the ICAO SMS guidance material as a basis with specific CASA and other NAA requirements as appropriate to the client.
